Poor Man's Whiskey

Poor Man's Whiskey brings their critically acclaimed bluegrass interpretation of Pink Floyd's classic album "Dark Side of the Moon" to the legendary Great American Music Hall. Dressed as the characters from the Wizard of Oz, and under the canopy of the Lazer and Liquid Light show, it will be an evening not to be missed!

Joining Poor Man's Whiskey for the show will be special guests Nat Keefe and Aaron Redner from Hot Buttered Rum and James Nash from the Waybacks.  We are excited to spend the night playing with these great musicians!

Show time starts at 9pm. Put on your dancing shoes, because we have three sets of music lined up for you.  Kicking off the evening will be a set of PMW songs you know and love. The second set will be our bluegrass interpretation of Pink Floyd's classic album, Dark Side of the Moon.  We will follow that with a 3rd set of more PMW classics and some great surprises!  The theme for the night will be the Wizard of Oz. We encourage you to be a part of the show with us and come dressed as your favorite character from the movie. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes!

Poor Man's Whiskey emerged from a rich and vibrant musical scene north of the Golden Gate. What had begun as a fun side project to get to play on "bluegrass instruments", the band was quickly winning over audiences with their upbeat performances, zany stage antics, and infectious songs.

Through the years Poor Man's Whiskey has developed a sound that is eclectic and engaging. It is a musical tapestry influenced by American music. From bluegrass and folk to rock, funk, pop, blues, and even disco, their songs invite the audience to dance, laugh, sing, and occasionally to even slow down to ponder and reflect. At their core they are story tellers, weaving tales of everyday life that are easily accessible and will have you singing and dancing right along. Not bound by the rules of bluegrass tradition, PMW uses all the tools available to engage the crowd and themselves (from banjos and mandolins to screaming electric guitars and drums, from everyday casual wear to flashy and elaborate costumes).
